(Paullinia Kupana, P. sorbilis). Known in Brazil as Guarana and Venezuela as Kupana, is shown as a South American origin, grown by our aboriginal ancestors of these two countries in the Amazon region. Is extracted from its seeds stimulant called guaranin a product that contains between 4 and 5% of a substance equated to caffeine.

It is cultivated extensively in Brazil, where it constitutes a veritable industry, even being a major export product, calculated its production in more than 500 tons. metric with potential for growth, because companies are increasing their crop. Industrial forms of production are: creams and beauty products, dry or paste of roasted seeds or sun-dried powder in aluminum containers or glass of varying sizes, concentrated syrups, soft drinks (Coca-Cola style). These drinks are called guarana, soft drinks are a true mass consumption.

According to the Brazilian magazine "Trade and Industry" we note that the guarana in its various forms (but mostly powder), is exported to America to Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. It is also exported to other countries: Saudi Arabia, Angola, Benin, Australia, Canada, Ivory Coast, Kuwait, Gabon, Ghana, Lebanon, Iraq, Liberia, Mauritania, Togo and United States.

In Venezuela, only consumption by some Indians, whose cultivation and use mystical-religious connotations, because they are seen as a magical substance. It has stimulant and medicinal powers and could perhaps help them develop naturally some power to-normal.
